We no longer are getting free cable (I think I might have inadvertently messed up the wire while moving the TV, or the cable company finally turned it off. One of the two haha). Now we get about 3 channels. The weird thing is that the channel I have on now, all the ads are muted. The sound comes back on when the show starts again.... so weird. 

Free sewing machine!
Someone at the dance studio gave me a sewing machine last week. She was so excited to give it to me, that I just couldn't say no. The thing is I have my mom's extremely old metal pink one (that I think is super neat). Anyone have a need for a free sewing machine? it's hanging out in my trunk for now; I haven't opened it up or anything, so I don't even know what brand it is etc (but if you really want to know, I'll get that info to you). Here's your chance to learn how to sew and become the next big thing in the fashion world! (or you could just make yourself some nifty pillows. either way, it's win win.)

What a gorgeous day!! We are all packed up and ready for our 6K this sunday (for anyone who is interested: it's a 6K run/walk starting at the BMI and going through the Locust Point area). I'm excited that we should have great weather... that means we'll probably get a good number of walk-up registrations. It'll be an early morning, but I pretty much will just be taking pictures after we get everything set up.

My sister is currently looking for a patient to perform her final dental hygiene boards on at University of MD, Baltimore. Anyone know someone who would like to get a free teeth cleaning (must have not been cleaned for a year or more), and who is a student/retired or otherwise has 2 half days of time they'd be willing to give up for a nice bright smile. It may not take that long, but it's her final test so they have to allot a certain amount of time. It seems weird to me that she has to find her own patient, but if she doesn't find someone she fails, so I figured I could ask around! I'm sure she'd be willing to hook her patient up with a nice supply of toothpaste/tooth brushes/whitening strips etc to show her gratitude.

I got back not too long ago (about 8:00 or so). I have been traveling in some way since 6:00 this morning (california time) after 2 short hours of sleep. I am exhausted. Overall it was a fun trip... but I'll post more later when I have more energy.

aniika made me a new icon! it makes me laugh. This was shot on the bus on the way to NY this weekend. What a fabulous trip that was. I must write more about that another time. this pic is quite the odd one. haha, why do i find it so amusing?

as further proof of my lack of a brain today: i was at giant this evening after talking myself out of a fast food meal. after gathering my items and waiting in line, the cashier informed me that the system was down and i couldn't use my credit card. as i didn't have cash or my checkbook with me, i left. it didn't even occur to me to go to the ATM 20ft away until i got to my apt. it's been one of those days.

i'm sitting on the second floor of the art building. some random guy wearing clown hair just asked me to watch a few of his short videos he carries around on his key drive. as i watched the short titled "suicide" i found out that he doesn't even go to school here, and that he's just "hanging out." hmmmm. there was another "ad" for natty boh as well as another for the "breakfast alarm clock." interesting.

i went to my parents place in frederick for the 3rd week in a row. this time to use their sewing machine to make some adjustments to my halloween costume and to make some pillows for my newly arranged/decorated living room. the costume part turned out decently, however, i did a terrible job on the pillows (as i had no patience to measure/cut straight/pin and proceeded to wing it). the outcome was two sad lumpy lopsided blobs. haha. i'm too tired to care right now.

it's 5:30 am. i just got home. sitting out in the cold in the middle of baltimore waiting for a tow truck is no fun. didn't expect to be out all night - now i must get some sleep

i just rearranged the furniture in my living room to make space for a new bookcase. i'm not sure i like it...but i'm going to leave it for now. i need a second opinion.

i just got a call from a friend - looks like i'll be going to power plant tonight (or "power point" as i mistakenly called it). the prospect doesn't thrill me, but it's better than staying home alone on this dreary gray day. this weather has to change. what happened to our crisp, sunny fall days?

so saturday was pretty great. the weather was fabulous, and i got to enjoy a nice long walk along the toepath with aniika and a butterfly named "dog." yeah, we found a butterfly on the path, and were able to coax him onto my hand, where he sat happily licking my palm with his curly butterfly tongue. he hung out with us for quite awhile, but eventually left us to our walnut throwing antics.

so on the one night that i am tied up babysitting, 4 different people want to know if i can do anything - 4 PEOPLE! what are the chances of that? it's so sad, cause i really would have liked to do something tonight. however, the kids are upstairs watching a movie (2 to be exact - they fought, so i made 2 movie rooms), and i'm downstairs scanning in my letters and updating LJ - could be worse :) preliminary plans have been set for tomorrow afternoon - that at least is something to look forward to.

despite the rain and the fact that someone side swiped me and knocked one of the side mirrors off my car, i had a fabulous birthday on friday. we ended up at the barking dog in bethesda and danced the night away. more people than i had expected were able to come which made it all the more fun. yay for fun people :)

today in my typography class, we got our papers back sans grades. looks like i have my work cut out for me. although it was a good class - the teacher was happy with where everyone was with designing our typefaces, and gave the go ahead to start drawing them on the computer. however i have some catch up work now that i've decided which design to pursue.

my presentation went really well today. :) yay! our teacher sat us down and told us we did a "really good job" and that he was really happy with how everything went. This is very nice to hear from him, cause he doesn't just say things like that. We have some engineering students who are really interested in our project and who are willing to collaborate with us. This will be very interesting. We might have a marketable product by the end of the semester. wow.

Tonight I got to take a nice long walk with my girl. That made me very happy.

Tomorrow night I'm going out dancing for my bday! I'm very excited about that, I haven't gone out in awhile.
